PITTSBURGH -- Finally, football is back.

The highly-anticipated high school football season kicks off in Western Pennsylvania on Friday, Sept. 11 with the 2020 edition of AHN Friday Night Rivals on 22 The Point and streaming live on 22thepoint.com.

The opening week broadcast features Mars Area hosting Hampton, a WPIAL Class 4A Greater Allegheny Conference showdown.

Both programs have been re-energized by the opportunity to face new competition in the 2020 season after moving down from Class 5A.

Following a 6-5 mark a year ago, longtime Mars Head Coach Scott Heinauer returns 10 starters, led by senior running back Teddy Ruffner.

Hampton head coach Jacque DeMatteo will field 15 returning staters.

Prior to kickoff, watch the AHN Friday Night Rivals Kickoff Special at 6:30, featuring 22 The Point's Jordan Conigliaro and former NFL quarterback and Pittsburgh native Mike McMahon previewing the 2020 WPIAL season.
