Another chapter was written in the recent WPIAL Big Eight Conference rivalry between Thomas Jefferson and Belle Vernon Area Friday, LIVE on 22 the Point in a Week 2 Friday Night Rivals broadcast. Thomas Jefferson stole the show this time winning 36-14 on the road in a matchup of the top two teams in Class 4A.

PITTSBURGH -- Another chapter was written in the recent WPIAL Big Eight Conference rivalry between Thomas Jefferson and Belle Vernon Area Friday, LIVE on 22 the Point in a Week 2 C. Harper Auto Group Powered by IGS Energy Friday Night Rivals broadcast.

Thomas Jefferson stole the show this time winning 36-14 on the road in a matchup of the top two teams in Class 4A.

"I thought we were physical," Thomas Jefferson Head Coach Bill Cherpak said in the postgame trophy presentation.

"A play here and there at the beginning could have changed things, but I was really happy with our performance."

Dan Deabner was named the ReMax Select Realty Player of the Game, hauling in six passes for 200 yards. Deabner was junior quarterback Shane Stump's favorite target, while senior running back Max Shaw added over 100 yards on the ground.

Mason Pascoe led the way for Belle Vernon, finishing with 270 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Thomas Jefferson improved to 2-0 on the season, while Belle Vernon dropped to 1-1.

This game was a rematch of a 2017 WPIAL playoff showdown, which also went to Thomas Jefferson.

This week's Friday Night Rivals broadcast on 22 the Point features Mars Area hosting Penn Hills, live at 7 p.m.
