PITTSBURGH -- Leading 28-21 and facing a fourth-and-2 late in the fourth quarter, Peters Township could have punted the ball back to Upper St. Clair, fueling their second half comeback.

Instead, the Indians went with a play they know well, the fake.

Senior linebacker and Miami (Ohio) commit Corban Hondru took the long snap and raced around the left side, picking up the crucial first down to seal the victory over the Panthers on a special Thursday edition of AHN Friday Night Rivals on 22 The Point.

With the win, Peters Township improves to 3-0 on its 2020 redemption tour following a narrow loss in the 2019 WPIAL championship game.

The fake punt wasn't the only timely play Hondru made Thursday night.

After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, Hondru and the Indians defense pinned the Panthers on their own goal line, and then cut off the corner when Upper St. Clair quarterback Ethan Dahlem tried to escape, recording a safety to get on the scoreboard.

Peters Township had its hands full chasing Dahlem and the Panthers offense all night.

Dahlem scored two first half rushing touchdowns and also delivered a timely touchdown strike to wide receiver Aidan Besselman in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to one score.

Upper St. Clair drops to 2-2 on the season, while Peters Township is now 2-0 playing on AHN Friday Night Rivals, following a 17-3 win over South Fayette on Sept. 25 on 22 The Point.
