PITTSBURGH -- Peters Township entered Friday's matchup versus Bethel Park - a Week 8 C. Harper Auto Group Powered by IGS Energy Friday Night Rivals broadcast - on a seven-game losing skid against its longtime rival.
But this isn't the Peters Township team of old. The Indians earned a 35-0 statement win, a decision that will keep them in contention for the WPIAL Allegheny 8 Conference title entering the final week of the regular season.
"It just elevates the program," Peters Township Head Coach T.J. Plack said in the postgame trophy presentation on 22 the Point.
"We want to be like them and this game tonight is a step closer to being a conference champion."
A win next week versus Baldwin would earn Peters Township at least a share of the conference championship.
Sophomore quarterback Logan Pfeuffer played one of his best games as a starting quarterback, throwing three touchdown passes and also catching one.
To start the fourth quarter, wide receiver Josh Casilli took a hand-off and then threw to a wide open Pfeuffer on the trick play touchdown. Running back Ryan Magiske added 100 yards and the game's opening touchdown.
Peters Township improved to 7-2, while Bethel Park fell to 5-3 as both programs inch closer to the postseason.
This week's Friday Night Rivals broadcast on 22 the Point features North Allegheny hosting Pine-Richland, live at 7 p.m. on 22 the Point.
