PITTSBURGH -- After a whirlwind week of off-the-field controversy, Antonio Brown's future with the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly remains up in the air.
A week that included Brown missing practice and the regular season finale along with reports of a spat with Ben Roethlisberger and a trade request, could only be topped by a stunning appearance on the new FOX reality game show "The Masked Singer," which premiered Wednesday night on FOX 53.
The show features a panel trying to guess the celebrity singer behind an elaborate costume.
Brown had more to say following his performance of "My Prerogative," decked out in a hippo costume which ultimately stumped the panel.
"This was an awesome experience, an amazing opportunity," Brown told FOX following the performance.
"The hippo fit my personality. He has the chains, he's super cool, athletic. His tail is a little bigger than mine. It was pretty amazing being the hippo, being under the radar and being able to just do my thing. I had so much fun challenging myself, being able to sing, dance and perform. I loved it."
As for the song choice - which has led some to speculate a connection to his recent locker room issues, although there hasn't been an immediate confirmation of when the show was taped - Brown said it fit his style.
"I picked this song because I really felt comfortable singing this song with a lot of energy. I thought I would be able to pull this one off."
Watch "The Masked Singer" Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on FOX 53.
