PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown appears to be unpredictable as ever these days. His latest act proved to be the biggest surprise yet for the much-maligned NFL star.

Brown was the first big reveal on the new reality show "The Masked Singer" which premiered Wednesday night on FOX 53.

The show features a panel trying to guess the celebrity singer behind an elaborate costume. Brown wore a hippo costume and fittingly performed "My Prerogative,"leaving the panel guessing it was a big-time athlete but ultimately stumped on the true identity.

Brown was ultimately revealed to the audience and told host Nick Cannon he "was glad to be a part of it."

The highly anticipated show premiere came just hours after Brown was elevated to top antagonist following the Steelers' failure to make the NFL postseason.

Brown was reportedly involved in a spat with Ben Roethlisberger last week during practice, missed Sunday's regular season finale, reportedly requested a trade and then appeared to watch Mike Tomlin's end of season press conference on Instagram Wednesday afternoon alongside former teammate James Harrison.

Wearing a hippo mask and pantomiming these lyrics Wednesday night may just be peak Antonio Brown.

"I don't need permission, make my own decisions, that's my prerogative."

Watch "The Masked Singer" Wednesday's at 9 p.m. on FOX 53.
