PITTSBURGH -- The regular season conference championship in the WPIAL's largest classification is going down to the wire and this week's AHN Friday Night Rivals Powered by IGS Energy showdown will prove pivotal in determining the top team entering the playoffs.

Pine-Richland (8-1) hosts North Allegheny (9-0) Friday with live coverage kicking off at 7 p.m. on 22 the Point and streaming on 22thepoint.com.

The Rams and Tigers - two teams showcased earlier this season on Friday Night Rivals - enter the matchup with plenty at stake.

North Allegheny is on top of the Quad County Conference at 7-0 and will lock up the top overall Class 6A seed including home field advantage with a victory.

Pine-Richland sits at 6-1 in the conference following an earlier loss to Central Catholic and will need a victory Friday and a Central Catholic loss to Mount Lebanon to earn the top seed.

The Rams are led by junior quarterback Cole Spencer who is coming off of one of his most impressive performances yet, a three touchdown game in the 35-21 win over Seneca Valley last Friday.

North Allegheny is currently second in the state rankings after a 33-14 victory over West Allegheny, a win that made head coach Art Walker Jr. the program's all-time wins leader with 145, surpassing Jim Rankin.

The Week 9 matchup between these two Pittsburgh powerhouses has quickly turned into a must-see rivalry game.

Last season, in a Friday Night Rivals broadcast on 22 the Point, North Allegheny defeated Pine-Richland 27-7 to claim the regular season conference title. However, the Rams then quickly recharged in the postseason and won the WPIAL Class 6A championship at Heinz Field.
