PITTSBURGH -- For many veterans a companion pet can provide a second chance at health and happiness.

There's an organization in Pittsburgh serving as matchmaker, pairing rescue animals with our region's veterans.

The Pittsburgh Chapter of "Pets for Vets" is run by Animal Friends, an organization offering animal care, adoption services and other community education and outreach.

"Pets for Vets" coordinator Eric Stieglitz and Animal Friends Communications Coordinator Cody Hoellerman recently appeared on "Issues on the Point" to discuss how the program works, their outreach with the local veteran community and their Veteran Ambassadors Council.

For more information and to support the program, visit "Pets for Vets" online.

Watch "Issues on the Point" every Sunday morning at 6:30 on 22 the Point.
